Ghana Standards Authority Shuts Down Chinese Firm

Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has closed down a Chinese firm, ZxZ Company Limited, for using unauthorized materials in its products.

The company was found to be using polystyrene instead of polyurethane to manufacture sleeping mattresses. The GSA acted on information gathered and complaints from the public to visit and shut down the company.

Upon inspecting the company’s premises, the GSA found other products being manufactured, including imitations of Ghanaian products. According to George Kojo Anti, Head of Special Projects at GSA, the company is not registered with the GSA and does not have the required license.

“The company does not meet our licensing requirements,” Anti said. “We require foreign companies to meet our standards.”

Anti explained that polystyrene poses health risks to consumers. He called on manufacturing companies to secure licenses from the GSA before operating.

The GSA has reassured the public that it will continue to protect consumers and promote trade. The authority will take action against companies that do not comply with regulations.

The GSA urges the public to report any information about substandard products or unlicensed companies.
