ACCRA – Ghana has finalized several significant agreements with Morocco, including a doubling of scholarships for Ghanaian students, enhanced food security cooperation, and new pilot training opportunities. The pacts were announced by Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, following a working visit to the North African nation.
Under the new terms, the number of annual scholarships for Ghanaian students in Morocco will increase from 70 to 140. In a move to bolster food security, Morocco will provide a free donation of 2,000 tonnes of fertilizers to Ghanaian farmers and offer technical support for the construction of a modern fertilizer manufacturing plant in Ghana.
Additionally, Ghanaian youth will receive pilot training at Morocco’s esteemed pilot training academy, a development that aligns with President Mahama’s initiatives to revive Ghana Airways. The agreements also include an educational exchange program, allowing Moroccan youth to pursue studies at Ghana’s Maritime University and other higher education institutions.
Looking ahead, a major business forum is scheduled for October 2025 in Morocco to facilitate collaborations between Ghanaian and Moroccan companies. Priority projects have also been identified in crucial sectors such as sea port expansion, railway development, textile production, and pharmaceuticals, signaling a broad scope of future cooperation.
