Accra, Ghana – Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), has held talks with Qatar’s Labour Ministry Undersecretary, Her Excellency Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani, to boost labour cooperation between the two countries. The meeting focused on advancing Ghana’s Labour Export Programme, with Qatar expressing interest in recruiting Ghanaian professionals in key sectors such as health, tourism, IT, transport, and logistics.

The discussions are part of broader efforts to create overseas employment opportunities for skilled young Ghanaians. This development is expected to not only benefit Ghanaian workers but also contribute to the economic growth of both nations.

Qatar has completed its ratification of the bilateral Labour Cooperation Agreement, pending Ghana’s Parliamentary approval. Once in force, the agreement will provide a framework for recruitment, welfare, and protection of Ghanaian workers in Qatar, underscoring the shared commitment to mutually beneficial cooperation.
