Ghana has presented its legacy governance report to the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) for review. The report was presented on behalf of President John Mahama at the high-level APRM Forum in Freetown, Sierra Leone. President Mahama’s decision to subject his government’s governance to external review and scrutiny demonstrates his commitment to transparency and accountability.
The President’s commitment to good governance is anchored on several key principles, including constitutional review, transparency, accountability, and combating corruption. He has also emphasized the importance of a strict code of conduct for all appointees and respect for citizens. The report highlights Ghana’s efforts to utilize resources for the benefit of all Ghanaians, rather than a select few.
The presentation was received by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone. Ghana’s commitment to becoming a gold standard for good governance under President Mahama’s leadership was emphasized during the forum. The APRM review process will provide an assessment of Ghana’s governance practices and offer recommendations for improvement.
