Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Police Service has provided an update on the viral domestic violence video case, announcing that the accused, John Odartey Lamptey, alias Ni Adjei, and two others, Louis Odartey Lamptey and Grace Kushie Lamptey, have been remanded into police custody. The Magistrate Court at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) granted the remand, with the accused to reappear on December 3, 2025.

John Odartey Lamptey has been charged with Physical Assault, contrary to Sections 1(b)(i) and 3(2) of the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732), while the other two have been charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, specifically “threat of harm” contrary to Sections 23(1) and 74 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). The charges stem from a viral video showing Lamptey physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife, and the other two attempting to attack a female tenant suspected of recording and circulating the video.
The police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of the victim, assuring that all information provided will be treated confidentially. The Ghana Police Service had earlier taken action after a video of the assault circulated widely on social media, and the public is urged to come forward with any credible information that may aid in the investigation.
