The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, led a delegation of senior officers from the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) New York Field Office for a historic official engagement. This marks the first meeting between the leadership of the GPS and senior executives of the FBI in the United States and is part of a wider effort to deepen operational partnerships with American law-enforcement agencies.
The discussions with Assistant Director-in-Charge Christopher Raia and his team focused on strengthening joint efforts against shared U.S.–Ghana security threats. Key areas of cooperation include cyber-enabled fraud investigations, enhancing intelligence-driven policing, counterterrorism operations, and leveraging technology for crime prevention.
IGP Yohuno emphasized Ghana’s dedication to modern policing and international collaboration, stating that such partnerships reaffirm a shared responsibility to protect citizens and enable the GPS to adopt advanced investigative tools. Assistant Director Raia praised the growing relationship, noting that global partnerships are essential to hold transnational criminals, such as cyber fraudsters recently extradited by the FBI New York Office, accountable.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to sustained information exchange, capacity building, and coordinated operations to address evolving threats affecting both nations.
