The Ghana Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed that it will keep the original ballot order for the upcoming presidential election, despite the recent disqualification of Philip Appiah Kubi, the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) candidate. This decision was announced by EC Chairperson Jean Mensa at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, November 12.

Mrs. Jean Mensa emphasized the EC’s commitment to a smooth and timely process, stating that Kubi’s disqualification doesn’t require changes to the ballot structure. With presidential ballot printing already 90% complete, the Commission is on track to meet all deadlines. Mr. Jean Mensa assured party representatives that election materials will be ready well before voting day.
The GFP had nominated Kubi as a replacement for Akua Donkor, the party’s initial presidential candidate and founder, who passed away on October 28. By maintaining the current ballot arrangement, the EC minimizes logistical issues and disruptions.
This decision marks a significant step in finalizing preparations for the 2024 presidential election. The EC’s dedication to transparency and efficiency ensures a credible electoral process for the people of Ghana.
