NEW YORK – Ghana and Norway have signed a Political Consultations Agreement on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to strengthen their bilateral relations. The agreement was finalized by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Norway’s Minister of International Development, Åsmund Grøver Aukrust.
The new accord aims to deepen cooperation across several key sectors, including oil and gas, trade, education, agribusiness, and artificial intelligence. The agreement also includes provisions for collaboration on maritime security, the blue economy, and intelligence sharing.
According to Minister Ablakwa, the agreement reflects a commitment by both nations to provide global leadership, particularly in their shared effort to spearhead the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy. He praised his team and Minister Aukrust for their work in finalizing the deal, which marks a significant step forward for Ghana-Norway relations.
