Accra, Ghana – September 3, 2024 – Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) warmly welcomes Virgin Atlantic’s decision to resume operations in Ghana, starting May 2025. The airline will operate daily flights from Kotoka International Airport using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, becoming the 25th airline to operate out of the airport.

GACL’s Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, expressed excitement and enthusiasm, stating that Virgin Atlantic’s return underscores the confidence in Ghana’s aviation industry and boosts efforts to establish Ghana as a preferred aviation hub in West Africa.

To accommodate the growing number of airlines, GACL plans to utilize Terminal 2 of Kotoka International Airport to its optimal level, easing congestion and enhancing passenger travel. Details of this plan will be shared with the public after stakeholder engagements.

Virgin Atlantic’s return is expected to provide greater connectivity options for passengers traveling from Ghana to destinations worldwide.
