Accra, Ghana – Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has expressed profound shock and sadness following the passing of Ghanaian highlife icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. The news of his death, which occurred this past weekend, reportedly struck the former president “like a thunderbolt” as he was unaware of the musician’s illness.
In a press release, Former President Kufuor eulogized Daddy Lumba as an iconic and highly-talented musician whose peculiar voice and thrilling, transcendental lyrics captivated hearts in Ghana and among highlife enthusiasts globally. He counted himself among Lumba’s ardent admirers, often looking forward to his annual “Night of the Legends” musical concerts, to which he was personally invited on several occasions.
Former President Kufuor extended his sincere condolences to Daddy Lumba’s widow, children, and extended family, wishing them fortitude during this difficult time.
