First Lady Lordina Mahama Launches GHANASCO’s 65th Anniversary Celebration

First Lady Lordina Mahama has officially launched the 65th anniversary celebration of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale, highlighting the school’s legacy of excellence and its role in shaping future generations. As a proud alumna, Mrs. Mahama emphasized President John Dramani Mahama’s dedication to education and the transformative power of learning.

Mrs. Mahama celebrated the school’s 65-year commitment to nurturing well-rounded young Ghanaians and acknowledged the achievements of several prominent GHANASCO alumni, including Alhaji Alhassan Andani, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Awal, John Jinapor, Alhassan Suhuyini, legendary footballers Abedi Pele and Kwame Ayew, and Professor Bashiru Imoro Saeed. She attributed President Mahama’s effective leadership to his GHANASCO education, citing the lessons, discipline, friendships, and experiences that laid the foundation for his leadership.

The First Lady reiterated the government’s commitment to education, emphasizing initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing teacher training, prioritizing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and implementing further initiatives to enhance teaching and learning. Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu assured the school of government support, announcing plans to construct an assembly hall and dormitory, address classroom furniture shortages, and review the basic school curriculum.

The 65th anniversary celebration, which will continue until October, drew dignitaries including Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister; John Jinapor; Alhasan Suhuyini; Abu Takoro, Mayor of Tamale; and Alhassan Alidu Jnr, Regional Educational Director. Professor Bashiru Imoro Saeed echoed the First Lady’s sentiments, emphasizing the school’s founding mission to cultivate future leaders.
