In a dramatic turn of events, a statement allegedly posted by Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a prominent advocate for democracy and accountability, has been discredited as fake by his lawyer, Nana Ato Dadzie. The statement in question claimed that NDC members on the vetting committee accepted bribes from Mahama’s ministerial nominees in exchange for approval.
However, during a hearing at the Parliament’s Appoint Committee on January 29, 2025, Dadzie vehemently denied the statement, emphasizing that it was entirely fabricated and not attributed to Barker-Vormawor. “He never wrote that statement. He never uttered that statement. He never posted that statement,” Dadzie asserted.
Barker-Vormawor, is a PhD research student at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Law . He is a strong supporter of the democratic process, earning him recognition as a “valiant warrior for democracy.” His commitment to promoting transparency and good governance has resonated with many Ghanaians.
In a related development, Barker-Vormawor was recently granted bail after multiple denials, following concerns over his treatment in police custody and the potential abuse of legal processes to silence dissent.
