The European Union’s new Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Rune Skinnebach, has stressed the critical importance of maintaining peace and stability in Ghana, asserting that continued calm is essential for fostering greater collaboration and development in the country. The Ambassador made the appeal during a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.

Ambassador Skinnebach pledged to elevate the EU’s support for Ghana, citing the nation’s high potential for growth. He stated that the EU would continue to reinforce its partnership to help Ghana sustain its peace and security efforts and committed to collaborating on creating an enabling environment that maintains stability and generates local investment opportunities. He further noted the EU’s interest in cultivating peace and security across the West African subregion.

In response, Minister Mohammed-Mubarak welcomed the Ambassador and assured him of strong governmental support. The Minister outlined potential areas for increased collaboration, specifically mentioning digitization projects for the Ghana Prisons Service to improve inmate management and enhanced support for the National Peace Council for conflict prevention efforts. The Minister also thanked the European Union for its longstanding support to Ghana.
