Renowned Ghanaian gospel artist Esther Smith, known for her powerful vocals and multiple award-winning performances, has expressed her disillusionment with Ghanaian politicians, accusing them of repeatedly making unfulfilled promises.
Speaking in an interview on Cape Coast-based Property FM, Esther Smith criticized political leaders for failing to deliver on their promises, which has left many of the country’s youth struggling through hardships.
“Ghanaian politicians are full of lies, and they keep on making promises that they never fulfill,” Smith said bluntly. “At the end of the day, the youth continue to suffer through the hardships.”
Her candid remarks reflect growing frustration among many Ghanaians who feel let down by successive governments.
Esther Smith advised voters to approach elections with caution, urging them to support their preferred candidates but avoid becoming overly invested in the political process.
“The little advice I can give is to vote for who you prefer and go home quietly,” she noted. “Some people sacrifice their lives for politicians, but when they come into power, things remain the same.”
Esther Smith emphasized the importance of peaceful voting and highlighted the need for citizens to remember that elections are simply a contest of ideas, not a call for division.
“This is just a contest of ideas. Being an NDC supporter doesn’t mean everyone should belong to where you are,” she added. “Everyone has their own mindset, and even twins from the same mother have different opinions.”
She concluded by urging Ghanaians to reflect on their personal circumstances when casting their ballots. “Look at what is happening in your life to vote,” she advised.
