COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), shed light on the growing challenge of fraud within Ghana’s public sector at a recent seminar.
She emphasized the sophistication of modern fraud, with new schemes emerging daily, and the need for awareness and action to combat financial crimes.
Addo-Danquah noted the limitations faced by EOCO, including budget constraints and insider threats.
She also highlighted the risks of cross-border fraud and the delicate balance between security measures and user experience. To combat these challenges, she stressed the importance of strategic partnerships, staff training, and continuous education.
