In response to allegations of bribery during the ongoing Ejisu by-election, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the withdrawal of two of its officials. The decision came after a video surfaced on social media, purportedly showing an individual approaching a polling station table and leaving an envelope.
Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman in Charge of operations, issued a press release addressing the matter. He stated that the video, recorded at the Fumesua Pentecost Church Polling Station (code F311503), depicted a concerning incident involving one of the temporary staff members.

“The Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two temporary staff while investigations take place,” the statement affirmed. It emphasized the EC’s commitment to upholding integrity, truth, and transparency, principles instilled in all temporary staff during training.
Mr. Tettey emphasized the EC’s stance against actions that tarnish the institution’s integrity. “The Commission will not countenance acts which cast a slur on the integrity of the institution and will not hesitate to sanction its officials who violate the law,” he reiterated.
Furthermore, the EC pledged to release a detailed report on the incident in due course, underscoring its commitment to transparency and accountability.
The withdrawal of the officials underscores the seriousness with which the EC addresses allegations of misconduct, particularly during crucial electoral processes. As investigations proceed, the public awaits further updates on the matter.
