Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its stance that the parliamentary results for Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Dome Kwabenya constituencies are invalid and unenforceable. According to EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, the declaration of results in these constituencies was made under duress, with electoral officials facing threats and destruction of ballot papers.

The EC has emphasized that the collation process in Okaikwei Central and Ablekuma North failed to follow proper procedures, rendering the results unacceptable. In Okaikwei Central, the winner was declared without collating results from 31 polling stations, while in Ablekuma North, the winner was declared without collating results from 62 polling stations.

Meanwhile, three constituencies – Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North – have successfully undergone the re-collation process. The EC’s decision has significant implications for the electoral process in Ghana, and it remains to be seen how this will impact the country’s political landscape.
