The Parliamentary Committee on Energy has completed its monitoring visits to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Volta River Authority (VRA), with both institutions presenting updates on their operations and appeals for support.
During its engagement, the ECG disclosed that it has successfully traced and relocated over 1,000 containers that were previously reported missing from the ports. The company also announced a significant financial milestone, recording the highest revenue in its history in July 2025.
In its presentation, the VRA appealed to the Committee to lend its support to the Energy and Finance Ministers to help the authority achieve and manage at least 80 percent of the nation’s energy generation market.
The Chairman of the Committee and Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, commended both ECG and VRA for their continuous efforts to maintain the country’s power supply. He reiterated that the Committee’s purpose is not to be a passive observer but to actively engage with agencies under its purview to understand their challenges and collaborate with relevant authorities to find solutions.
