30th Anniversary Celebration of CEANA Convention @ Atlanta, GA, August 31st-September 4th
The Council of Ewe Associations of North America ( CEANA ) will hold its 30th Annual Convention from August 31-September 3, 2023 @the Atlanta Airport Marriott Hotel, 4711 Best Road, Atlanta, Georgia, under the theme:” Empowering Our Youth Towards Innovative Entrepreneurship In Transformational Agriculture”
The annual CEANA convention brings together 100s of people from all walks of life together over the Labor Day Weekend, mainly for fundraising to support the various developmental projects in the Ewe-land undertaken by CEANA year after year. The occasion is also used to account for how the funds raised previously had been spent on the projects undertaken by CEANA.
We also take advantage of the gathering to network, socialize, and reconnect with families and old friends.
CEANA is an umbrella organization comprising twenty (20) Ewe Associations throughout the US and Canada that seek to commit their collective efforts and resources to developing and supporting our folks in the Eweland in Ghana, Togo, and Benin for now.
CEANA is a not-for-profit organization with a 501(C)3 IRS Tax Exempt status; therefore, all funds donated to CEANA can be tax deductible.
This year’s convention is historic, as Atlanta was the host of the very first CEANA convention 30 years ago; therefore, it is the backdrop of us going back there to celebrate 30 years of CEANA’s establishment and achievements over this period.
Registration fees for the full convention package are as follows:
18 years and above $219 per person
10-17 years old $140 per person
5-9. Years old $95.00 per person
3-4 years Free (Max of 2 per parent)
2 years and under Free.
This year, CEANA will showcase all the developments that have been undertaken within the last 30 years, the number of school buildings constructed, medical facilities renovated, libraries constructed, and scholarships given out to support needing high school students throughout the Eweland.
In March this year, CEANA commissioned and handed over a Pedestrian Foot Bridge at Agordoe and a 4-unit Staff Quarters in Adutor.
Activities planned for this year’s convention include:
Thursday, August 31st: The Board members, known as the Council of Representatives COR), and other general attendees arrive.
Thursday night: Old School buggy
Friday, September 1st: General arrival of attendees, a board meeting in the morning.
Excursion to the iconic Georgia Aquarium (the second largest in the world) Coca Cola Center, and the Historic Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Museum.
Friday evening: A display of authentic and rich Ewe Culture dance and performance.
Saturday morning: General meeting, where the Presidents of the various associations will render reports of the activities of the affiliate Associations, as well as remarks by the various guest speakers.
Saturday night: A grand Dinner banquet and fundraising.
The dinner banquet also showcases the richness of our traditional Chiefs and Queen Mothers in the most colorful regalia.
There will be the traditional transfer of the seat of CEANA to the next host of the convention, which symbolizes the arduous task of planning and hosting the next convention. Attendees at this year’s convention will be treated to some of the best Ewe musical selections by some of the best artists from the Eweland and worldwide.
The Rt is the Guest of Honor and Chairman of this year’s convention. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana.
The Keynote address shall be delivered by Mrs. Beatrice Jones-Mensah Tayui-Founder and CEO of Cybele Energy Global and Cybele Energy Ghana Limited. Special Guests: His Royal Highness Togbe Agbelom, Chief of Salo, also known as Nana Ofei Asamani I, Nkosuahene of Akwamu Traditional Area.
Sunday morning, there shall be a non-denominational Thanksgiving church service with rich gospel musical selections led by Professor Elikem Nyamuame.
After which, a grand picnic to crown it all, prior to Toli/ Smooth Jazz night later that Sunday night.
Monday is the day of the general departure.
This year’s fundraising goal is $150,000.00 to try to surpass last year’s $105,000.00 raised. This year, CEANA is undertaking the construction of a 3-classroom building of EP JSS at Peki-Dzake and awarding 100s scholarships to new high school students, in addition to supporting others in their second and final years in Ghana, Togo, and Benin.
CEANA has many other projects in the pipeline that need funding to undertake; therefore, funds raised this year will be appropriated to these projects, such as the construction of a kindergarten building at Dodome-Awiasu and a computer library in the Kloto area in Togo.
CEANA is committed to the socio-economic, educational, and medical needs in the Eweland aimed at improving the lots of our folks.
