The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has announced a Requiem Mass in honor of the late Pope Francis, scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025. The Mass, organized by the Apostolic Nunciature in collaboration with the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, will take place at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Adabraka. According to the Archdiocese, the Requiem Mass is a gesture of prayerful solidarity with the Universal Church.

The Mass is set for 6:30 p.m. on the designated day. To ensure maximum participation, the Archdiocese has requested that Friday evening Masses in various parishes be celebrated in the morning. This will enable the faithful to join in the evening Requiem Mass.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has extended an invitation to all priests, religious, and lay faithful to attend the Requiem Mass. The gathering aims to thank God for the life and ministry of the late Pope Francis and commend his soul to God’s infinite mercy. The Archdiocese is calling on the faithful to come together as one family of faith to pay their respects.

In his invitation, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, expressed his desire for the faithful to join in this solemn occasion. He prayed that the soul of the late Supreme Pontiff, and the souls of all the faithful departed, may rest in peace through the mercy of God. The Requiem Mass is expected to be a significant event in the Archdiocese, bringing together the faithful to pay tribute to the late Pope Francis.
