The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana will today, Monday, January 29, 2024, announce the Policy rate. The 116th regular meetings of the Committee which commenced on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 was concluded on Friday, January 26, 2024.
The meetings ended with a decision on the appropriate positioning of the Bank’s Policy Rate and the decision will be announced today at the Media Briefing today at the Bank’s Head Office in Accra. It will be addressed by the Chairman of the MPC, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison.
Meanwhile, some Economist, experts and Trade unions have called on the Central bank to reduce the policy rate. Prof. Ebenezer Turkson from the University of Ghana, Prof. John Gatsi from UCC and Ghana Union of Traders Association, GUTA have all raised concerns about the need to reduced the rate.
