The plan for the COVID-19 payments passed by the House last week allows individuals earning below $75,000 per year and couples making up to $150,000 per year to qualify for the full $1,400 stimulus payout. The amount of that payment begins declining for people with higher income. Under the Democratic-controlled House plan, individuals making up to $100,000 per year and couples making up to $200,000 per year would receive a partial payment, that is, less than $1,400 per person and adjusted, depending on one’s income.

Biden and Senate Democratic leadership however agreed to individuals earning less than $75,000 yearly and couples earning less than $150,000 would still receive the full $1,400 per person. However, the value would disappear altogether for individuals earning more than $80,000 and couples earning more than $160,000 yearly.

That means single families making between $80,000 and $100,000, as well as couples earning $160,000 and $200,000, are now excluded.

The Senate however has not taken a vote on the issue yet.

The stimulus is aimed at energizing the US economy and ease the economic hardships on families brought on by the current pandemic.

It is estimated that there are about 4 million African immigrants in the USA majority of which may qualify to receive benefits under the Biden plan.
