The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has maintained the policy rate at 28.0 percent, citing easing inflationary pressures and a stable macroeconomic environment. The decision was made at the 124th regular meeting of the MPC, which evaluated recent economic developments and assessed the risks to the inflation and growth outlook.

The MPC noted that headline inflation has declined consecutively in the first four months of the year, driven by tight monetary policy stance, liquidity sterilization efforts, and exchange rate stability. The Bank’s core inflation measure and inflation expectations also point to easing inflationary pressures.

The Committee observed that despite the positive developments, the current level of inflation remains high relative to the medium-term target, necessitating the maintenance of the tight stance to reinforce the disinflation process. Additionally, the MPC decided to amend the Dynamic Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) to require banks to maintain reserves in their respective currencies, effective June 5, 2025.
