Kojo Asamoa-Caesar wins Oklahoma’s First Congressional District Democratic primary

Kojo Asamoa-Caesar wins a landslide victory over Mark Keeter, in the Democratic primaries of the Oklahoma congregational district 1. He had 34,830 votes, representing 63.6 % of the total votes cast.
He will run agaianst the unchallanged incumbent Republican, Kevin Hern in the 2020 general elections.
Kojo Asamoa-Caesar is a husband, a father, the son of immigrants from Ghana , West Africa, a proud product of public schools and a law school graduate who chose to become a kindergarten teacher in Oklahoma. He is the Democrat running for Congress in Oklahoma’s first district to unseat Kevin Hern and build an America as good as its promise.
Running in the Oklahoma elections in 2020, Kojo Asamoa-Caesar is a first-generation American, the son of a certified nursing assistant and a taxi driver who were drawn to the United States from Ghana by the call of the American Dream. Driven by his mother’s strength and encouragement, Kojo excelled in school and went on to study Communications at Old Dominion University, where he was elected student body president and founded T.R.U.S.T., an organization dedicated to developing young adults as positive change agents in their communities.
Kojo then went on to study law at the College of William & Mary, the oldest law school in the United States. After graduating, rather than entering a career in law, Kojo decided to join Teach for America, which brought him to Tulsa as a kindergarten teacher in 2013. His students saw significant growth in their reading scores, and he was ultimately named Teacher of the Year at his school site after just his second year of teaching.
After spending time studying education policy as a Fellow with the Urban Leaders Fellowship, Kojo was asked to serve as the founding principal of Greenwood Leadership Academy, an elementary school in North Tulsa, founded in 2017 as part of a partnership between the Met Cares Foundation and Tulsa Public Schools. There he recruited, hired and managed a staff of 25 to operate a school serving over 250 students.
Most recently, Kojo served as interim executive director at 36 Degrees North, a co-working space that serves as Tulsa’s basecamp for entrepreneurs, serving over 500 members representing over 47 different industries.

Baba Rahman has the level of being Chelsea’s first choice left back- Marcel Desailly

1998 World Cup winner with France, Marcel Desailly has expressed confidence in the qualities of Baba Abdul Rahman as he states that the Black Stars defender has what it takes to play in the first team of Chelsea.
Having joined the English Premier League outfit in 2015 from German Bundesliga side Augsburg, Baba Rahman has struggled to make a case for himself in the Blues first team as he is continually sent out on loan.
In an interview with Footballmadeinghana TV, Marcel Desailly urged the Black Stars asset to continue working hard and not give up.
“Baba Rahman should not give up. I think he has the level of being Chelsea’s first-choice left-back. He should try more, he went out on loan to the Spanish League this season so he should come back with a better mindset to be able to perform.
“The Premier League is very difficult because of the speed of the game so it’s not easy but he has to cope with it,” he said.
This season, Baba Rahman is playing for RCD Mallorca but injuries have denied him the opportunity of playing in as many matches that he would have wanted.

Auditor-General’s Leave: Akufo-Addo using Presidency to settle personal scores – A Plus

Social Commentator and Founder of The People’s Project (TPP) Kwame Asare Obeng has said it’s sad that Akufo-Addo who is an astute lawyer is using the Presidency to settle personal scores.
“Nana Addo who should know better and act like a Nelson Mandela has reduced the Presidency to a platform for settling scores. Now he wants to even settle 70-years-old scores. (Kwame Nkrumah and JB Dankwa). It is shameful. Even John Dramani Mahama the “incompetent dead goat” was not this impulsive and vindictive.” He said in a post on his Facebook page.
According to him, there was a lot expected from Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo but he has been the worst President in the history of the country.
“Every area where we diehard supporters of Nana Addo expected him to do better he has done worse!!! Stop this practice of removing the IGP, CEOs and CDS when the government changes. Akufo Addo has added the electoral commissioner and the Auditor-General. (Who doesn’t know that the very day the NPP leaves power the electoral commissioner will have to pack out of her office before she is sacked?) Stop victimization of perceived opposition businessmen, Akufo Addo has done worse.”
He indicated that Akufo-Addo’s marking scheme is different from the marking scheme of the “incompetent ones” and that he’s failed woefully.
“Nana Addo does not simply understand that the marking scheme we use for him or our expectation of him is totally different from what we use for the so-called “incompetent” ones. He continues to behave like that pastor’s son who always tries to prove that he is more gangster than the street kids but don’t understand why he the pastor’s son is punished the most.”
On issues bothering the Auditor General who was asked to proceed on leave, A Plus said “What is the meaning of the independence of the Auditor General? I won’t be surprised if his latter-day supporters defend him by saying John Dramani Mahama did worse. What do you expect of people who in opposition said someone is incompetent but after coming to power and realizing how useless they rather are coined a tern, “the alternative is empty” meaning they know for a fact that they are useless but they are better than the incompetent ones. When did governance of this country, people live for that matter turn into a competition of who is more useless?”

‘Sir John was a good man, I will miss him’ – Bawumia mourns

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has sent out a message of commiserations to the family of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie known in politics as Sir John.
The Forestry Commission CEO passed away on Wednesday at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
In a post on his verified Facebook Timeline, the Vice President indicated that he last spoke with the former General Secretary of the NPP on Tuesday, June 30.
“I have learnt with sadness the passing of Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie aka Sir John, former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party and Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission. I spoke with Sir John only yesterday but little did I know that was our last conversation.
Sir John was a good man who truly paid his dues to the Party and Ghana. I will miss him,” Dr Bawumia’s post read.
Sir John died at the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, July 1, whilst undergoing treatment for COVID-19.
His death comes as a shock to many politicians and political actors.
Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Jubilee House, shared a tribute some few minutes after the sad news of the passing of Kwadwo Afriyie Owusu was announced.
“RIP Sir John…Till we meet again,” he wrote on Facebook.
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a relative to the President and key NPP strategist also wrote on his Facebook Timeline, “Only this afternoon I called to wish him a speedy recovery… This is truly shattering! Tough to swallow… Sleep easy, Sir John.”

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was born in the Ashanti Region.
He attended the Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School in Bekwai from where he obtained his GCE Ordinary level certificate.
He then proceeded to obtain his GCE Advanced Level certificate from Konongo-Odumase Secondary School in Konongo.
Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was admitted to study Political Science at the University of Ghana, Legon, after which he enrolled at the Ghana School of Law, Makola, where he graduated with Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
He was then admitted as Solicitor and Counsel of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
Sir John entered into private law practice in 1981.
During the John Agyekum Kufuor administration, he was appointed head of legal services at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
He was later made to act as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the corporation.
While managing his own firm, Afriyie was also actively engaged in Ghanaian politics.
Sir John was a good man who truly paid his dues to the Party and Ghana. I will miss him.
