The Ashanti Regional Police Command has recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from an abandoned vehicle on the Aputuoagya-Bekwai road on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The police patrol team spotted a white Toyota Sienta private vehicle suspiciously parked near a bushy area, and upon approaching, two individuals fled into the nearby bush and escaped.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of one AK-47 assault rifle, a locally manufactured firearm, two AK-47 magazines loaded with 30 rounds each, packets of AK-47 ammunition, and other items. The vehicle has been impounded, and the recovered items are being held as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into the unlawful possession of weapons and ammunition and is urging members of the public with any information that could assist in the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police station or contact the police emergency numbers. The police remain committed to preventing violent crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
