The second day of the burial rites of the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa, took place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, sat in state at noon to receive guests who came to sympathize with the Asante Kingdom following the passing of the revered queen mother. The occasion was marked by a vibrant display of the rich Ashanti culture, with traditional regalia, music, and dance adding to the solemnity of the event.
A number of dignitaries paid their respects to the Asante Kingdom, including Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah Buah and MP for Bosomtwe Constituency, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum. The Asantehene’s palace was filled with mourners who came to pay their last respects to the late Asantehemaa, all clad in traditional attire that reflected the cultural heritage of the Ashanti kingdom.
Delegations from various state agencies, financial institutions, and educational institutions also paid their respects to the Asante Kingdom. State agencies represented included the Ghana National Prisons Service, National Intelligence Bureau, and Ghana Shippers Authority, among others. Financial institutions such as Consolidated Bank of Ghana, Access Bank, and Ecobank were also present, showcasing the widespread respect for the Asante Kingdom’s traditions.
The presence of these dignitaries and delegations underscores the respect and admiration for the late Asantehemaa and the Asante Kingdom. The burial rites continue to draw attention from various sectors of society, highlighting the significance of the occasion and the impact of the late queen mother’s passing on the kingdom.
