Asantehene Returns to Ghana After Trip Abroad

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has returned to Ghana after a trip abroad, arriving at the Prempeh I International Airport on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The King was welcomed by traditional authorities and officials, including Nana Otuo Sereboe II, Juabenhene, Akyeamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu, Asafohene, and Mayor Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi.

Other notable officials who welcomed the Asantehene included Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former MP for Manhyia South Constituency, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjo, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, and Brigadier General Matthew Opoku, GOC of the Central Command. The welcome ceremony at the airport was a testament to the respect and admiration for the King.

Upon arrival, the Asantehene paid a visit to the residence of Nana Konadu Yiadom II, Asantehemaa, his traditional mother. This visit marked an important step in his return to Ghana, highlighting the significance of traditional and familial ties in the Asante culture.

The Asantehene’s return comes ahead of several important events, including the resumption of mediation of the Bawku crisis from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi. Other upcoming activities include the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation 25th Anniversary fundraising and the highly anticipated Odwira Festival, scheduled to begin at the end of October.
