Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebrations got a shot of intellectual adrenaline as the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) partnered with the Ministry of Education to host a thrilling quiz competition. The event, dubbed “What do you know?” brought together four schools – Damongo SHS, Kintampo SHS, Achiase SHS, and Apam SHS – in a battle of wits at the GNAT hall in Accra.
At the end of the competition, Apam Senior High School emerged victorious, solidifying its reputation as a force to be reckoned with in academic circles. This achievement is not surprising, given Apam SHS’s history of excellence, including its impressive performance in the 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz, where it staged a thrilling comeback to knock out Adisadel College.
The quiz competition was attended by dignitaries, including the Chairman of NCCE, Ms. Kathleen Addy, Commission Secretary, Mrs. Lucille Hewlett Annan, and officials from the Ghana Education Service. The event served as a testament to the NCCE’s commitment to promoting civic education and intellectual excellence among Ghana’s youth.
Apam SHS’s victory is a proud moment for the school, which was founded by the late Rev. J.W. De-Graft Johnson in 1953 ². As the school basks in the glory of its achievement, it’s clear that its students are poised to make a lasting impact in Ghana’s future.
