ANLOGA, V/R GHANA – The Anlo Dukor Council, in consultation with the Office of the Awoamefia of Anlo, has announced a ban on drumming and noise-making throughout the Anlo State. This customary directive will be in effect from September 7 to September 27, 2025, as part of the sacred preparations for the annual Hogbetsotso Festival and related ancestral observances.
This period is considered spiritually significant, designated for reflection, purification, and solemnity in line with Anlo traditions. During this time, all forms of drumming, loud music, funeral celebrations involving noise, and any public noise-making activities are prohibited.
The directive applies to all residents, religious organizations, institutions, event organizers, and visitors within the thirty-six towns under the Anlo jurisdiction.
Specifically, the ban covers drumming and the use of loud musical instruments, outdoor musical performances or celebrations, and any excessive or amplified noise that could disrupt the sanctity of the period.
The Awoamefia has urged all to uphold the dignity of this sacred time. Traditional taskforces, in collaboration with local authorities and security agencies, will enforce the ban to ensure full compliance. The Anlo Dukor Council is calling on everyone to cooperate in maintaining peace, unity, and the revered customs of the Anlo people.
