The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced a month-long ban on drumming and noise-making in Accra, effective from Monday, May 12, to Thursday, June 12, 2025. The ban is in line with customs of the Ga Traditional Council and aims to ensure peace, harmony, and national security during the Nmaa Dumɔ period.

During this period, churches are expected to conduct their activities within their premises without using musical instruments, and loudspeakers placed outside churches, mosques, and pubs are prohibited. Roadside evangelists are also required to cease their activities. The AMA has designated a task force comprising AMA personnel, the Ghana Police Service, and representatives from Traditional Councils to enforce the ban.
Residents and communities within the Ga Traditional Area are urged to comply with the guidelines for a peaceful observance of the customary restrictions. The AMA has provided contact numbers for stakeholders seeking further clarification.
