President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned the ultra-modern Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, revolutionizing healthcare delivery in Ghana. The facility offers kidney transplantation, dialysis, and other specialized services.
The President emphasized his government’s commitment to equitable healthcare distribution, noting the center’s significance, especially for men over 40 vulnerable to urological conditions. It will also position Ghana as a medical tourism hub, generating revenue for sustainability.
Health Minister Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye outlined key departments, including a 30-suite dialysis station and 70 beds. The center will cover dialysis costs for patients 60+ and 18-, with partial coverage for those between 18 and 60, accessible through NHIS membership renewal.
This development underscores Ghana’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and quality, solidifying its position as a regional healthcare leader.
