President Nana Akufo-Addo has commissioned a new state-of-the-art annex building for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. The new building is designed to meet the growing needs of Ghana’s foreign service workforce.
Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of a robust and efficient foreign service, citing it as the lifeblood of any nation aspiring to greatness. He highlighted the Ministry’s achievements, including the establishment of the Foreign Service Institute, successful bids to host the Secretariats of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Climate Vulnerable Forum, and securing Ghana’s two-year tenure on the United Nations Security Council.
The President also praised the Ministry’s leadership during his two successive terms as Chair of ECOWAS and its role in spearheading key initiatives such as the Accra Initiative. This initiative aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and underscores Ghana’s vision of a secure and prosperous West Africa.
These achievements demonstrate Ghana’s commitment to regional stability and global collaboration. The new annex building is expected to further enhance the Ministry’s capabilities and support Ghana’s diplomatic efforts.
