ACCRA—A 50-member delegation of African-American philanthropists paid a courtesy visit to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, and the Ga Traditional Council on Wednesday. The group, which is on a spiritual journey to trace their ancestral lineage and reconnect with African culture, was led by Brandon Sturdivant, who has been enstooled with the stool name Nana Ekow Amoasi II.
The visit, which took place at the Ga Mantse’s palace, is part of a broader trend of members of the African diaspora returning to Ghana to explore their roots. This movement, often termed “Return to Ghana,” has gained momentum in recent years, drawing people back to the continent to connect with their history and heritage.
During the visit, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of their reconnection with the continent. He acknowledged their efforts in philanthropy and encouraged them to continue their work while building stronger ties with their ancestral home. The delegation expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and shared their personal stories of how the journey has been transformative.
