Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin ate humble pie and apologized to Defence Minister-designate Dr. Edward Omane Boamah. The apology came after a misunderstanding over the scheduled time for Omane Boamah’s vetting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Afenyo-Markin, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, initially rebuked Omane Boamah for arriving late to his vetting. However, it later emerged that the late arrival was due to a miscommunication from the Appointment’s Committee of Parliament regarding the scheduled time.

After being briefed on the reason for the late arrival, Afenyo-Markin rendered a formal apology to Omane Boamah at the end of the vetting process. “Dr. Omane Boamah, in the morning, I made certain comments with regards to the lateness… So I want to unreservedly say sorry to you,” Afenyo-Markin stated.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, also added his voice to the apology, which Omane Boamah graciously accepted. This apology highlights Afenyo-Markin’s willingness to acknowledge and correct his mistakes, demonstrating a commitment to fairness and accountability.
