Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has revealed that if he leaves politics, he plans to preach the word of God. In a candid interview, Afenyo-Markin shared his deep spiritual convictions and personal struggles, affirming his passion for preaching.
Afenyo-Markin expressed his unwavering belief in God, stating that his life experiences have fortified his faith, even in the face of crisis. He credited prayer and fasting for playing a pivotal role in his life, starting from his time at St. Augustine’s College.
The lawmaker recounted his humble beginnings, sharing memories of living with friends after school and working as a bus conductor. He fondly remembered his stepfather, who stood by him and offered spiritual support, often holding his hand and praying for him before he went to secondary school.
Afenyo-Markin believes that his spiritual calling and political career are not mutually exclusive. As a politician, he sees himself sharing the word of God with people, and his faith continues to guide him in his public life.
