Finance Ministers from the African Development Bank (AfDB) constituency, including Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Sudan, met with AfDB Group President Dr. Sidi Ould Tah to discuss critical development issues facing their nations and the continent. The meeting, which took place earlier today, focused on strategies for resource management and the imperative of leveraging natural resources to drive sustainable economic development.

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, noted that a highlight of the discussion was the strong continental interest in Ghana’s unique Gold for Oil (GOLDBOD) policy. Several of his African counterparts expressed keen interest in replicating the initiative within their own jurisdictions, signalling that the policy—which manages resource wealth to stabilize fuel prices—is being recognized as an innovative model for resource-backed economic development across Africa.

The discussions concluded with a shared commitment to developing strategies that better utilize Africa’s resources to foster economic growth and resilience continent-wide.
