President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Libreville, Gabon, to attend the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of President-elect General Brice Clatoire Oliguin Nguema. The ceremony took place on Saturday, May 3.
President Mahama’s presence at the inauguration highlights the strong bilateral relationship between Ghana and Gabon. The President was accompanied by a delegation that includes senior government officials, such as National Security Advisor Prosper Douglas Bani, Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudeto Ablakwa, and Deputy Chief of the Staff for Operations Stan Xoese Dogbe.
General Nguema won the April 12 presidential election, having previously led the nation after a coup that removed former President Omar Bongo.
