President Mahama Appoints New Second Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, in accordance with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended. Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is a seasoned corporate leader with extensive experience in the banking sector, having served as Group Head, Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC.

Mrs. Asante-Asiedu holds various academic qualifications, including an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School, an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University, and diplomas in Journalism and Politics and Public Affairs Reporting. She is also a Chartered Executive Banker and has undertaken executive programs at prestigious institutions such as Oxford University’s Said Business School and the Wharton School.

The appointment is expected to leverage Mrs. Asante-Asiedu’s expertise and experience to contribute to the effective management and governance of the Bank of Ghana. As Second Deputy Governor, she will play a key role in shaping the country’s monetary policy and financial sector development.

The presidency has announced the appointment, with Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu confirming the development. Mrs. Asante-Asiedu’s appointment is subject to the necessary procedures and approvals, after which she will assume her new role at the Bank of Ghana.
