President John Dramani Mahama has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Pope Francis, describing him as a “good man” who was “personable and humane, with a good soul.” The President penned a condolence message in the book of condolence opened at the Apostolic Nunciature in Accra.

The gesture was in honour of the late pontiff, who passed away on April 21 at the age of 88. Pope Francis was known for his humility and strong advocacy for peace, social justice, and interfaith unity. His burial took place at the Vatican on April 26.

A solemn mass was held in Accra on April 25 at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, attended by a government delegation led by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as well as religious leaders from various Christian denominations and a representative of the National Chief Imam. The mass was held in memory of the late Pope Francis.
