President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in the recently appointed military service commanders as members of the Armed Forces Council. The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Defence, marked an important milestone in the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The newly sworn-in officers include Major General William Agyapong as Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu as Chief of Army Staff, Real Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing as Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Vice Marshall Eric Agyen-Frempong as Chief of Air Staff.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the Armed Forces Council convened a meeting to consider several key issues, including promotions and the retooling of the Ghana Armed Forces. The meeting brought together senior officials, including Minister for Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for the Interior Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Other notable attendees included Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama and President Advisor and Special Aide to President Joyce Bawah Mogtari. The swearing-in ceremony and subsequent meeting underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening the Ghana Armed Forces and ensuring national security.
