The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced the commencement of licensing Service Providers in the gold trading sector, effective April 23, 2025. Eligible applicants, including Ghanaians aged 18 and above or fully-owned Ghanaian companies, can apply for licenses online or physically at the GoldBod’s office in Accra.

The categories of licenses available for application include Aggregator, Self-financing Aggregator, and Buyer licenses (Tier 1 and 2). Other licenses, such as Refining, Smelting, and Fabrication licenses, will be available for application starting July 2025.

The GoldBod has reiterated its directive for foreigners to exit the local gold trading market by April 30, 2025, and for gold traders to buy and sell gold at the official Bank of Ghana Reference Rate. The Board looks forward to working with stakeholders to restructure and streamline the gold trading sector.
