The Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has urged ECOWAS member states to renew their commitment to the regional bloc’s founding vision as the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary. Speaking at the launch of the anniversary celebrations in Accra, Hon. Ampem emphasized the need for collective action to tackle pressing economic challenges facing West Africa.
He called on member countries to look ahead with a renewed sense of purpose and unity, stressing that Ghana remains firmly committed to the ideals of regional integration, peace, and shared development. Hon. Ampem lauded ECOWAS’ resilience and leadership over the years, noting its pivotal role in fostering economic and political stability in the region.
The two-day meeting, which marked the official launch of the anniversary celebrations, was held at the Accra International Conference Centre. Hon. Ampem urged member countries to build on ECOWAS’ legacy and intensify efforts to meet the aspirations of the region’s people.
