The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, announced the government’s commitment to launching a cutting-edge electronic tolling system. This ambitious project aims to create “the best road tolling system in Africa,” setting a new standard for excellence in the region.

As Mr. Agbodza welcomed the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hüseyin Güngör, he emphasized the importance of innovation and transparency in the project. The Ministry is currently seeking approval from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) to select a transaction advisor, ensuring a fair and competitive process.

“We want the best technical and financial proposal that can make us operate a very sustainable tolling system,” Agbodza stated, highlighting the government’s determination to overcome any doubts regarding the reintroduction of tolls.

The potential for Turkish investors to invest in Ghana’s road infrastructure development was also discussed, with the Minister inviting Turkish engineers to share their expertise in tolling systems. This collaboration could pave the way for a brighter future in road infrastructure, driving economic growth and development in Ghana.

As the project progresses, the Ministry will keep the public informed, ensuring transparency and accountability. With the advertisement for the selection of the transaction advisor set to be released soon, Ghana is poised to embark on a new era in tolling systems, one that will set a benchmark for excellence in Africa.
