In a gesture of goodwill, Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in Ghana have responded to President John Mahama’s call for a special Independence Day gift by increasing the value of their holiday data bundles. The new offer provides 6 GB of data for GHS 10 with an extended validity period of 72 hours, a significant upgrade from the previous 24 hours.

This initiative was made possible through collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, the National Communications Authority, and the CEOs of the MNOs. Sam Nartey George commended the MNOs for their gesture, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the government and operators in resetting the industry.
To ensure seamless service, the National Communications Authority has granted additional spectrum to MTN and Telecel at no cost for the 72-hour period. This special offer is available to prepaid customers of MTN, AT, and Telecel, with the Independence Day bundle taking priority over existing data bundles.
According to the minister, this is the first step in a number of policy and regulatory actions aimed at a sustainable roadmap to better data offerings and quality service.
