President John Dramani Mahama has reassigned Edward Bawa from his position as CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to head GOIL as CEO. Bawa announced the news on his Facebook page, stating that the reassignment is part of the President’s energy sector strategy.
This development comes after Bawa’s appointment to GNPC took effect on January 17, 2025. Prior to his appointment, Bawa served as the Member of Parliament for the Bongo Constituency from 2017 to 2025, where he played a role in shaping the country’s energy policies.
Bawa brings experience to his new role at GOIL. His background in petroleum revenue management, upstream agreements, and energy commercialization makes him suited to lead GOIL.
The move is a step in the President’s energy sector strategy, and Bawa’s expertise is expected to play a role in driving this vision forward.
