In a move set to propel Africa’s energy sector forward, Ghana’s Ministry of Energy and Green Transition is gearing up to host Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2025. This highly anticipated event, scheduled to take place from September 15 to 18, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, will bring together ministers, national oil companies, regulators, and private sector leaders to unlock investment opportunities, drive strategic energy partnerships, and shape the future of Africa’s upstream industry.

At the forefront of this initiative is Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor. He emphasized the urgent need for African unity and investment mobilization to navigate the continent’s evolving energy landscape. “Africa must take charge of its energy future,” he stressed. “We are at a pivotal moment where the global energy landscape is shifting rapidly, and we must work together to secure investment, accelerate production, and leverage technology to decarbonize our upstream sector.”

AOW 2025 promises to be a game-changer for Africa’s oil and gas sector. The event will provide a world-class platform for African governments to promote upstream opportunities and for the private sector to explore investment prospects across the regional energy sector. With a record level of government and private sector participation, AOW 2025 is poised to be a pivotal moment for the continent’s upstream sector.

Ghana will also use this opportunity to showcase its vision for positioning the country as one of the most competitive upstream destinations. The National Showcase will highlight progressive regulations, incentives, and policies designed to attract international investors. Additionally, exclusive presentations on the geology of the Keta and Voltarian basins will unveil new exploration opportunities for the international operator community.

As Ghana prepares to host AOW 2025, the country is also gearing up to unveil its ambitious new production targets. The Ghanaian government aims to increase daily output from the current 120,000-130,000 barrels per day to a significantly higher benchmark, further strengthening Ghana’s position as a premier destination for international oil and gas operators.

With its robust agenda featuring high-level ministerial summits, industry-leading discussions, and exclusive investment showcases, AOW 2025 is shaping up to be an event for Africa, run by Africa. As CEO of GNPC, Edward Bawa, noted, “AOW 2025 will be the premier platform where deals are struck between the global private sector, Pan-African regulators, and National Oil Companies.”
