The President of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago (GNC), Mr. Kassim Abubakari, has announced the cancellation of the upcoming Ghana Independence celebrations at Ashton Place in Willowbrook, Illinois. This vibrant event, which showcases rhythm, culture, and unity, was scheduled for March 8, 2025.

The statement indicated that the cancellation was a response to recent events that have profoundly affected the community. This decision was made after careful consideration, as the celebration was expected to be a magnificent display of Ghanaian heritage and pride. However, given the circumstances, the council believes it is essential to prioritize the well-being of all attendees.
However, the council is excited to announce the planning of a virtual celebration to mark this significant occasion. As the planning committee finalizes the details, we will provide further information on how you can participate in the virtual event.
The announcement continued to state that if you have already purchased tickets or have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact your affiliate representative for assistance.
We are pleased to present the complete message from the GNC President below, as it contains important insights and reflections that merit your full attention.
