New Defence Minister Vows to Press On Despite Daunting Challenges

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Ghana’s newly appointed Minister of Defence, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). Despite acknowledging the daunting tasks ahead, Dr. Omane Boamah expressed his determination to press on and ensure the country’s territorial integrity remains safe.

This morning, Dr. Omane Boamah met with the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, and Service Commanders to discuss the way forward. He followed up with two separate meetings: one with Directors of the Ministry of Defence and another with a Staff Durbar.

General Oppong-Peprah, on behalf of the Officers, Soldiers, and Defence Civilian Staff, congratulated Dr. Omane Boamah on his new role and pledged his loyalty and readiness to work with the Minister. Dr. Omane Boamah, in turn, thanked General Oppong-Peprah for the visit and assured him that he would work tirelessly to address the challenges faced by the GAF, particularly in providing accommodation for troops and procuring logistics.

The Minister also commended the High Command of the GAF for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, free from violent extremism and terrorism. With the support of General Oppong-Peprah and the entire GAF, Dr. Omane Boamah is poised to tackle the challenges ahead and ensure Ghana’s national security remains a top priority .
