The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) is bringing together tax administrators from its member countries for a 3-day consultative workshop. The event aims to foster collaboration and enhance tax administration across Africa, with a focus on ensuring the timely update of the African Trade Observatory (ATO) dashboard.

Newly appointed Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Akwasi Sarpong, urged participants to share ideas and best practices to improve revenue mobilization. He emphasized the importance of the African Tax Outlook publication, which informs reforms on tax basis and supports the need to broaden the tax net in Ghana.

ATAF Manager, Frank Mbuyamba, highlighted the significance of data analysis in decision-making and policy development. The African Tax Outlook publication provides a new perspective on tax analogies, examining specific topics to support the expansion of the tax base and improve domestic revenue mobilization in member countries.

The workshop is part of ATAF’s efforts to improve the capacity of African tax administrations, enhance the role of taxation in governance and state building, and provide a voice for African tax administrations and administrators. With 38 member countries, ATAF plays a crucial role in promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among tax authorities across Africa.
