The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the city’s filth. According to Mr. Gilbert Ankrah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of AMA, waste collection remains a top priority for the assembly.

Speaking on Accra-based Radio, Citi FM, Mr. Ankrah assured residents that the AMA is dedicated to ensuring consistent waste collection in all areas under its jurisdiction. He highlighted that refuse in areas like Circle is cleared daily, demonstrating the assembly’s proactive approach to waste management.

Notably, despite the absence of a fully appointed mayor, AMA’s operations have continued uninterrupted. “Beginning this year, we have put measures in place to ensure that the refuse of Accra is collected every day,” Mr. Ankrah emphasized.

The AMA PRO also stressed that the assembly will not let challenges hinder the efficiency of its waste management services. Instead, these services have been expanded to cover more areas and operate at greater frequencies, ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for Accra’s residents.
